.....Rattlesnake School was Elbert County District 25. It was put on skids and moved as the school populations shifted. Sometimes the school was located in Elbert County, sometimes in Douglas County. A permanent foundation was eventually established in what is now the Cottonwood Hills Subdivision in Section 14, Township 6 South, Range 65 West, about 2 miles east of the Douglas/Elbert County Line near Parker. Rattlesnake School became part of the Parker Consolidated Schools in 1951. The building was purchased in 1953 and moved to a piece of land four miles north of Parker on the west side of Highway 83. It is used as a private residence. |
