Speaking to the Future:
Helen Campbell

Helen Campbell moved to Aurora in 1952. She was a nurse and worked at the Veterans Administration, the National Jewish Hospital, the Rocky Mountain Hospital and the Veterans Administration in Des Moines, Iowa.

Mrs. Campbell had five children, Charles, Rex, Dennis and Hugh Campbell, and Sue Gelroth. Her husband died in 1960, and she became ill in 1964. At this time Mrs. Campbell quit nursing, she moved to Hawaii and was a nanny for five Japanese boys. Mrs. Campbell returned from Hawaii in 1975. She moved to Reyn Rock Apartments in 1981, and was the first manager of the building.

The tape contains information on many aspects of life in the Castle Rock community. It touches on the need for more low cost housing, help for the elderly, a family restaurant, lower cost food in town, and more amenities generally. Mrs. Campbell also mentions the drug traffic in town, the police and fire departments, young people, politics, the changes in nursing and religion.
